  1. The keel isn't the major thing as there are lots of standard keel r930's running square top mains. Too big a square top creates drag which negates the extra speed produced. The good thing is that R930's have been doing square top mains for a while now and the sail makers arn't experimenting too much any more. Get quotes from the major lofts and compare pricing and laminates. talk to the owners and see what they say. airship and testarossa have pretty nice evolution square tops. norths make a really nice square top too currently on no worries ( i think), pepe and a few others.
  2. half an 8.5 cat ross 780 javelin jollyboat - currently for sale opti - officially young fullas open bic - also young fullas - the brain washing commences 2 inflatable dinghys paddle board 2 sea kayaks plus 1/2 of freedom's dinghys too couple of old windsurfers I am trying to rationalize slightly by selling the jollyboat https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/centreboard/auction-1422343760.htm If you cut down your boat numbers then you just have to mow the lawn they were covering - and apparently cutting lawns is bad for the environment.

Norths vs doyles I've just scored a set of doyles stratis square top main and jib second hand recently . I've used a range of manufacturers before but I've always liked norths. My current number 1 was brought new from norths and is 3dl, my code zero was also brought new from norths both in 2014. Its interesting comparing the sails, fabric and build quality between the two brands. fabric stratis vs norths 3dl - very similar. Both the norths 3dl no1 and the doyles stratis number 1 feel soft and although not delaminating feel like they have maybe 2 seasons left of careful use. I know t

  11. there are two very good R780's on the market right now. cool change - is a wooden boat and very quick, has a twin spreader rig which has been grand fathered into the class. she was called interstellar overdrive. Night nurse -is a hopwood glass boat. When i say glass she is actually balsa core with glass each side. Hopwood built the production boats really well. I own one. Nightnurse had a big birthday a few years ago. Either would be a great boat. Most of these older Ross 780's are such great boats to sail that they're having loads spent on refurbishing them. Pm me if you want an

  17. Freedom report and video This trailor trash is fully converted !! Phil and I got up early to try the new old slightly larger ex Borderline main on the old Freedom. Great start until the first park up in Izzy Bay which was good for us, gave us time to adjust the rigging. The Borderline main is designed for a carbon ex TP52 mast whereas our old main was designed for standard GBE noodle. Just before Rakino the windex was going around in circles again frustrating. Hooters and Deeds went right. The Diam, Whio and Attitude went left. We managed to sneak through the middle somehow a
