    Dolphin RIBs

I'm not sure the repair side but I had a Dolphin RIB and it was great as the pontoons were quite large which gave good stability and load carrying plus it didn't leak

    Dolphin RIBs

I wouldn't do anywhere near them! I had Andrew at Dolphin do some repairs to an inflatable... poor communication, wasn't ready when promised, had to visit 4 times... final visit they hadn't even started on it and lost it in a pile so I waited while it was hunted out and then repaired while I waited.... Repair failed in a few months anyway.

    Dolphin RIBs

Are the Dolphin RIBs a good product. They seem a better price than the imports?
  5. I can assure you having previously been on the committee... that there is no hands in their pockets, looking the other way, pretending there was nothing they could do etc etc... Division cut offs / splits were regularly discussed (and passionately!)... but in a democratic system you need to have the numbers in support before making any changes. Just because something didn't change doesn't mean it wasn't discussed and debated. I think your post is poorly written putting a negative light on the committees of the past who all put in their time on a voluntary basis. Having said that It's always g
  6. I have one you can use but im away until the 23rd
  7. We didn't rescue them. Coastguard took care of that. They capsized right in front of us, so of course we were first on station, it's what anyone would of done. We dropped the jib, and did laps around them while they recovered their grab bag and got themselves together and we ran the comms to Auckland Maritime for them. Drifting away from land they weren't in any danger, and after a while they requested we stand down and continue racing. Lots of boats came to their aid, Explore Racing who was out North, leading their division they came down dropped jib and main. Flying boat ju
  8. Incredible that after years of putting their hands in the their pockets, looking the other way, pretending there was nothing they could do - resulting in giant divisions with 40 boats - someone on the new committee has shown some initiative, adjusted the cutoffs, and evened up the divisions. Well done SSANZ!!
  9. Well done Carpe Diem on rescuing the flipped catamaran at Kawau!

  11. Does anyone have a SWR meter for marine vhf I could borrow? I recently replaced the mast wiring and I feel my vhf performance is degraded.

  13. Is there a link for the tracker somewhere? Couldn’t see it on the SSANZ site
  14. SE Asia, supposedly until an undefined date in Q3. Seems concerning - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wEwkh4ov1I Anyone have any insight into this issue? Desn't affect me directly, but it does affect my views of Garmin.
  15. I have had a change of plans so, here it is a new windvane self steering. It is a build your self kit that cost me about $1400 to get to NZ. I did all the work of building it. So it is ready to go. It is made for a sailboat with a tiller set up around the 32ft range. It is made of stainless fittings, American oak primed with two pot interprotect and painted with Altex two pot top coat. You can have a read about this well regarded unit: https://www.pbo.co.uk/reviews/gear/hebridean-wind-vane-testing-the-diy-self-steering-gear https://windvaneselfsteering.co.u
  16. Have serious FOMO, wish I could be there on the start line to take photos of the 116 boats entered!
  17. Kick is racing, don't fancy our chances against the longer waterline length and canting keel boats with current forecast.....
  18. And also like perfect Storm, I've temporarily misplaced my triangle crew, not my wife, I'm not as careless as he is. But have a new gun on board who apparently remembers how to sail.
  19. Shimmer is racing like Perfect storm its all unloading 10 trolleys of cruising gear then loading on almost as much race sails fingers crossed the breeze goes north on saturday and we get more on the wind than the present forecast very reachy
  20. Needing a #1 #3 and a mh kite
  21. General Lee was never going to do the triple series.... the co-owners will be racing the mighty Hard Labour once more. There is no set programme yet for General Lee, the plan is to get her looking good, sounding great and back sailing... once that's achieved then we will look at what racing we want to do. Seen to many people state all these races they are going to do and they are never ready... We will get the boat ready then decide on the races and challenges to take on!!! But you can bet the boys are pretty excited to see what the General Lee can do.... https://www.faceb

    Lithium conversion

Most of the LiFEPo set up in the land yacht was done by HMB Electrical, (Hope I'm not breaking protocol in mentioning them but they were good) I did the battery box and one or two minor items myself after consultation with their contracted inspector who issued the EWOF. So yes there was an element of DIY but that was done per the inspectors guidance mostly to ensure there were no surprises for either party. Since I was initially intimidated by the seemingly complex circuitry I was hoping to be a bit dumb about it, pay some money and get a "turn-key package" . I should have known better Tu

    Lithium conversion

Thing is professional installers are reluctant to certify a diy as they didn’t do it and more to the point, didn’t get compensated for it. Why should their warranty cover something that is their core business yet they missed out on bulk margin? I guess there are installers that may but they will check every circuit and cascading fail safes consequently charging heaps to the extent they may as well have done it. I wouldn’t warranty someone else’s work. It’s grief you just don’t need. No reflection on the diyer. Based on that, I am somewhat disingenuous expecting the insurance co t
