  2. Everyone is a leaseholder technically but it is like an owner, it has renewed with the council once since I've been there with no change noticed. The purchase price is fixed by the Society and all sales go through it.
  3. It's not unusual to get enquiries for gh apartments from people wanting the berth and then rent out the apartment.
  4. For some reason I don't follow, the value of the berths is not really added to the house values in the village, and we have even had lawyers tell prospective buyers not to buy here as the berths have annual fees! With that, though, I'd also say, you DONT own the berth, you just get a license to occupy while you own the property... But you have basically the same rights as if you did own it - you can rent it out etc, to all intents and purposes its yours...
  5. So what you are saying is, marina berths in Auckland have gotten so expensive you can buy one and get a free house?
  6. that is very cheap. however prices rising due to maint is an issue we all face - the GHMV marina have a sinking fund for this - we just did a half life survey and replaced another 50 piles - steel this time. The fees I quoted above reflect the actual costs of running this marina. Without a hardstand or toilet/shower facilities...
  7. The Marina is a Society and supposed to operate solely for it's members boating needs, it isn't allowed to make a profit. At .present prices have risen lately due to the refurbishment of the piers. A typical lift and waterblast is around $100-130 with annual rental around $1400-$2000 PA depending on length
  8. My wife has one available if anyone is interested. 12m berth i think.
  9. I came across Euan Little's salient comments from last year (as then Chairman of Westhaven Marina Users Association Inc) It would appear that the Panuku model for Westhaven will be very similar to that being currently touted by Winton for a retirement home in Beaumont Street. This is not in the Westhaven precinct. You have to imagine high-class apartments along the Northern reclamation, and Westhaven Drive, each possessing exclusive access to a marina berth in the Westhaven basin, where today’s BEUs are then forced to be renters with longevity of tenure of 30 days. I believe that we

  11. Gulf Harbor Village marina - owned by village residents, run not for profit, currently my 15m berth is about $2700/pa - $225 per month. BUT you do have to buy a property here!
  12. Best value -OBC at Hobson Bay and HMB because they are owned and run by trusts where the berth holders are shareholders
  13. And sadly other Auckland marinas have upped their prices to match.
  14. I think the Tauranga Sulphur Point marina is. Their prices are half that of Auckland.
  15. A mate of mine paid 10k 18mnths ago. Feels a bit stitched. I was offered mine for free but gut told me not to bother securing in a buyers market. Fortunately I have a backup mooring. Six years ago I was paying $450/mnth in marina.
  16. A mate is currently trying to give away a 12m Hobsonville berth for 'free'. Lease till 2035. All you have to do is pay this year's opex of $9,600....
  17. Far too much profit in them to allow for that equitable socialist clap trap to get a leg in. I have always viewed Westhaven as public open recreational space akin to golf courses rugby facilities etc etc. Swept away in the cutting black heat of “greed is good” berth rates have severely savaged the value of craft. Here’s just one example of many $145k crikey that must hurt. Not exactly a sustainable way of doing business. The head of Auckland Marinas must be dodging the ghost of his dad daily.
  18. Hobsonville has had a rash of $1 auctions on trademe. Can’t give them away. Nobody wants to sign up to a 100k commitment.
  19. there are currently about 15 empty 12m berths on F1 pier alone. Westhaven have overcooked it with price increases.
  20. Did the same in Man o war bay, there is a live cable running out too pakatoa and also a dissued cable further north in the bay, towards church bay,we picked up the dissued one and secured a rope round front of plough and it slide off,Boat next door got it the night before,Oh well at least we wouldnt of dragged
  21. Last week
  22. This weekends achievement- anchoring in a submarine cable area (2x) avoiding possible fouling. By keeping well away from charted position lines of cable. Owhenaki bay, Waiheki. What got me was the number of boats that seemed to be oblivious of the cables and parked right on top of them. Did this with the BIL in his gin palace some 20 years ago and was a stressful experience! Had to cow hitch the cable with a recovery warp to unhook anchor. 40mm cable. HEAVY. Thinking disused as wouldn’t have come up at all. The cables were not on the navionics chart , but on the B&G app chart?

    Orca Core 2

Tritons edge or Orca c2? Can’t tell from your post. I have committed years ago to Airmar gh2183, Zeus 2, and ac12/42 with a back up drop in for each including below deck linear drive. Now ten yro. New stuff looks cool but can’t justify updating. Still learning to get optimum out of my boat in terms of sails, trim, conditions, tactics and I don’t even race!
